Valentine’s Day Re-imagined

Valentine’s Day is almost here. It’s a Hallmark special occasion. Grab those store made cards, load up on chocolate and spend way too much on a dinner out. Or could it be something more?

Why not use Valentine’s Day as a reminder to set your self care wheels in motion? Self care or self love is not selfishness. Here’s what we could be doing with this day. Set aside some time to add love into your OWN heart. Stop relying on others to fill that love tank. Do something that has meaning to you and to you alone.

Need ideas?

  1. Take the time to set up or continue along in your Gratitude Journal. Remember to not only write down what you are grateful for but WHY you are grateful.

  2. Make something that comforts and nourishes you. A special tea, a nutrition packed soup.

  3. Wear something that makes you happy. Fabric made from silk, bamboo or anything soft that just feels super comfy.

  4. Play or sing your favourite music.

  5. Use scents that evoke good feelings. Essential oils, scented soy or beeswax candles, bake something delightful in the oven.

  6. Watch an inspiring movie, visit an art gallery or observe nature.

See the pieces of the puzzle? Activate all of your senses. Taste, touch, smell, hear and sight. Take the challenge.

After all, if you love yourself first then you have love to give to others. And that’s what it’s all about.
